Is this QR code generator really free?
Yes. There is no paid tier, no watermark, and no limit on how many codes you can create. The generator runs in your browser, so there is no per-code server cost for us to recoup.
Do the QR codes expire?
No. A QR code generated here encodes your content directly (a "static" code), so it never expires and does not depend on our servers staying online to keep working.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. The text you type is encoded into a QR code entirely in your browser using JavaScript. It is never sent to our servers or any third party.
What is error correction, and which level should I pick?
Error correction lets a QR code still scan even if part of it is damaged, dirty, or covered by a logo. Level M (15%) is a good default for most uses; choose Q or H if you plan to place a logo over the code or print it somewhere it might get scuffed.
Can I add my logo to the QR code?
Not directly in the generator yet. You can, however, export as SVG or a large PNG and add a small logo in the center using any image editor — just increase the error correction level to Q or H first so the code stays scannable.
What is the difference between PNG, SVG, and PDF export?
PNG is a fixed-resolution image best for screens and most printing. SVG is a scalable vector that stays crisp at any size, ideal for large banners or professional print. PDF opens your browser's print dialog so you can save or print a ready-to-use page.
Why won't my QR code scan?
The most common causes are: the code was shrunk too small for its amount of data, there isn't enough quiet (blank) space around it, or the foreground and background colors don't have enough contrast. Try a higher error correction level and a larger export size.
Can I use a generated QR code commercially?

What is the maximum amount of text a QR code can hold?
It depends on the error correction level and content type, but this generator supports the full QR specification range — typically well over 1,000 characters of plain text at lower error correction levels.
Do I need an app to scan a QR code?
Most modern phones can scan QR codes directly from the built-in camera app — just point the camera at the code and tap the notification that appears. No separate scanner app is required on recent iOS or Android devices.
